Forest Trail Estates
Hard Hat Tour is a Hit

On a crisp mid-October morning, visitors arrived at one of the manor homes under construction at Forest Trail Estates for a guided tour led by Vice President Housing, Louie Morizio. Geranium's popular Hard Hat Tour is based on information printed in their industry leading 'How We Build' book. The combined book and tour offer prospective buyers, as well as purchasers, a glimpse behind the drywall to learn about construction practices the company employs to ensure a quality end product.

Topics covered include an explanation of why particular building materials are selected over alternatives; how the company addresses insulation and air seepage; preventative measures; and Energy Star for New Homes. Participants are able to ask questions as they group move from the garage, view the exterior of the home and walk through the interior including the basement.

Whitchurch-Stouffville's Annual Food Drive
Surpasses Expectations

The generosity of the residents and businesses of the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville can be measured in tons of food. The 3rd Annual Mayor's Thanksgiving Food Drive held October 1st in support of the local food bank surpassed all previous years' totals, due in large part to the contributions made by Geranium Homes along with their suppliers and homeowners of the Neighbourhoods of Cardinal Point Community.

On September 10th, Geranium Homes held its annual Barbecue-in-the-Park homeowner appreciation event. The event marked the kick-off for Geranium's 20-day campaign to garner residents and trades support of the Food Drive. At the end of the campaign, Marion Bell Executive Director of the Food Bank and Mayor Wayne Emmerson joined Geranium staff for the final tally and cheque presentation. This year's total donations exceeded all expectations reaching $8,705. The funds were a combination of Geranium's donation of $50 per home sold at Cardinal Point, contributions from suppliers and homeowners, as well as $1,500 raised through donations of $10 for a copy of Geranium Homes' children's book Coby Builds A House. In addition, great quantities of food items were contributed by Cardinal Point homeowners and Geranium's staff and trades.

"From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for all that you have done to support us and our clients," said an emotional Marion Bell.

"Geranium's continued unwavering support of the many Town events and initiatives that are run out of the Mayor's Office are helping to ensure that I achieve the goals that I have personally set for this term in office. In particular, we are sincerely grateful for the unbelievable donations of food and money raised through Geranium's efforts alone, to our recent 3rd Annual Food Drive," said Mayor Emmerson. Mr. Emmerson went on to say that the money received will buy twice what it would normally, in the hands of the organizers and volunteers of the food bank who will use it to purchase high demand items.

Louie Morizio, Geranium Homes' Vice-President thanked the suppliers and trades who arrived with pick-up trucks full of non-perishable food donations. A significant donation of $2,000 was made by James Hardie Building Products, and SCS Consulting Group played a huge role in organizing the trades.
